Hi, I’m Dominique

I’m Dominique Barrett, a licensed speech-language pathologist (SLP) and International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) with a focus on infant feeding and early communication.

My journey began as an SLP, where I developed a deep passion for early intervention and feeding therapy. That passion led me to pursue additional training in lactation support. I believe feeding and communication begin at the breast, and my goal is to help you address early feeding concerns with confidence so your baby can grow, thrive, and reach their full potential.

I’m proud to serve families throughout Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Northern Virginia.

My Approach

As both a speech-language pathologist (SLP) and an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), I take a whole-child, whole-family approach to infant and maternal care. I meet families where they are and guide them with expertise, empathy, and cultural sensitivity.

I support families through all stages of feeding and early development, offering both breastfeeding and infant feeding support, including prenatal consultations. I bring a deep understanding of oral motor development and early intervention speech and language skills, which gives me a unique lens through which I assess feeding challenges and developmental concerns. Whether you're navigating latch issues, bottle transitions, or wondering if your baby is on track with babbling and early words, I’m here to help.

Rooted in evidence-based care and a strong belief that feeding and communication begin at the breast, my approach is gentle, informed, and family-centered. I work closely with moms and caregivers to build confidence, reduce stress, and ensure each baby has the best possible start. I also look forward to expanding services to include early speech therapy, and in the future, doula support and bodywork to offer a truly integrated model of care.
